December 2014 – Week 4

Wow!  A whole year has passed since I decided to do this silly blog experiment.  When I look back at the first entry — and remember where I was at that time, emotionally — I am so thankful and amazed at how much brighter things look today.  I was so consumed with grief over the death of my sweet sister . . . but hopeful for brighter days.  Here we are, almost a year later, having had a wonderful year with family and friends, watching our Sweet P grow into a little bundle of fun, looking forward to the birth of our second grandchild – a boy!  When I looked through my pictures from this past week, there were many pictures from our Christmas gathering — lots of family, friends, and food!  I chose these two pics because I felt it was a good narrative of 2014. The first picture was taken out the back door of the house on Christmas eve – “red sky at night, sailor’s delight”, a promise of a bright tomorrow; the next picture was taken Christmas Day, as the family sat outside, enjoying the beautiful day, watching Sweet P and the dogs run and play in the yard.  God is good!

Psalm 43:5 - "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."
Psalm 43:5 –
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”

December 2014 – Week 3

I’ve always been a family-centered person.  I was blessed to be born into a big, loving, noisy family; I married into an awesome family; and we’ve done our best to provide that same kind of family life to our kids.  Now, suddenly here we are on the topside of the family thing — watching with great delight as our children experience the excitement of marriage and parenthood, striving to continue the wonderful family legacy they’ve been blessed with!  Just look at this Sweet little P!  Life just gets sweeter and sweeter!

Deuteronomy 7:13 " And He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: He will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which He sware unto thy fathers to give thee."
Deuteronomy 7:13 –
” And He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: He will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which He sware unto thy fathers to give thee.”

December 2014 – Week 2

I know this week’s picture is very cliché . . . food pics are everywhere!  I thought twice about posting this pic.  But, c’mon!  Look at this sandwich!!  🙂

Ecclesiastes 8:15 - "Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun."
Ecclesiastes 8:15 –
“Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.”

December 2014 – Week 1

One picture a week — sounds easy enough, right?  The difficulty comes in finding a picture that has any appeal at all to the few random folk that happen by my page!  😉  This week’s picture is not fabulous, or particularly interesting.  I understand that.  BUT, it is a picture of a fabulous person!  This sweet little chick could not bring more brightness and happiness to our daily lives!  Her funny little personality is blossoming and she is, by far, one of my favorite people in the world to hang out with!

John 1:16 - "And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace."
John 1:16 –
“And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.”

November 2014 – Week 4

My soul is refreshed and happy after a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with my sweet family in Indiana!  Lots of food, fellowship, and fun with some of my very favorite people in the world!  However, the picture I chose for this past week is not from the holiday weekend (although there were plenty of good ones from which to choose).  This week, I chose a picture from the night before we headed north for the holiday.  We gathered together with all our kids over a pot of spaghetti and homemade meatballs for “the big reveal” — to find out if we will be blessed in March with a grandson or granddaughter.  We couldn’t be more excited!

Psalms 16:9 - "Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope."
Psalms 16:9 –
“Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.”

November 2014 – Week 3

This past week was crazy-busy at work.  A new girl started on Monday (and quit on Thursday), we were frantically prepping for a conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we had to entertain the “big wigs” who showed up expecting great things!  However, in the midst of the stressful week, I determined to continue the usual random SnapChats and silliness with friends and family.  This is by far my favorite snap of the week.  (I crack myself up — I’m pretty sure I’m my own biggest fan!)

Genesis 21:6 - "And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me."
Genesis 21:6 –
“And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.”

November 2014 – Week 2

As we were driving to church this week, I kept seeing patches of these black-eyed susans that have lost all their petals.  I love the contrast of the dark flowers against the pale, dying grass.  Of course we had to pull over so I could try to capture the beauty.  This picture doesn’t show exactly how gorgeous it was.  Keep an eye out for the unexpected beauty as you’re driving this fall — it’s stunning!

Isaiah 40:8 - "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."
Isaiah 40:8 –
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

November 2014 – Week 1

Leaving work Thursday evening, I came outside to this.  The Clydesdales were in town for a weekend event, and were marching down the street in front of my office.  What fun!  I was able to click a couple quick pics of these beautiful, majestic animals.  And I was pleased to see that my photo included the sweet Dalmation in the front seat of the buggy.

Psalm 147:10-11 - "He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy."
Psalm 147:10-11 –
“He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.”

October 2014 – Week 5

Slim pickin’s this week . . . silly SnapChats are all I had to choose from.  My niece patiently waited (several weeks) for me to remember to mail out her wedding shower gifts.  After she warned me that my “favorite aunt” status was on the line, I got them out to her this week!  That’s all it took!

James 1:4 –
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
